My review

Happily married with Nico, pregnant Cassie has organized the perfect Christmas holiday in the Scottish Highlands. Together with their coupled up best friends, they will stay in a luxury cabin.
But from their arrival, it’s clear that Cassie’s dream will be turning into a nightmare, as disaster after disaster strikes, from a fire to secrets, this may turn out to be the worst Christmas ever…

Isn’t it wonderful to read a book about characters you love, and seeing them all together, seeing all previous books coming together in a marvelous festive last book?
And that is exactly what this book is!

Obviously I was over the moon to see how well Cassie and Nico were doing, and that they were as madly in love now as they were before! And my heart melted reading that they were expecting their own little bundle of joy!

With Nico being wealthy, Cassie shouldn’t be having any worries money – related. But while she has no such worries, I could understand her worrying that with the wealth, she would be losing herself. Of course it’s convenient having a chef, a midwife, even a masseur at your disposal, if you can afford it, why make things difficult for yourself? But I could also understand Cassie’s struggles because just because you have all the means, it doesn’t mean that you don’t have to do anything yourself anymore.
Yet I can imagine how difficult it can be to find that perfect balance.

Even if she is still as much in love with Nico as before, and the feelings are still mutual, just like any other relationship, there are a few misunderstandings and struggles.
Nico, no matter how amazing he is, doesn’t seem to understand Cassie’s need to have some independence.
Yet I could also understand him, as he wants to give the woman he loves everything she wants and needs.
Perhaps the linguistic barrier isn’t always helping either, as there are some things that Nico doesn’t fully comprehend, like sayings etc.

The thought of having a magical Christmas with your best friends, in a luxury chalet is something to get envious over, as me as a mere mortal could never afford that kind of special holiday.
Cassie truly thought about every little detail, to make it a holiday to remember. On one hand I was left flabbergasted to see how it all went up into smoke (pun intended☺️) but on the other hand, I found it also a tiiiiiiiiiiiiiny bit funny. Not because they deserve it, but because no matter how well you organize things, it will never go as you had envisioned.

Seeing everyone getting back to basics was perhaps exactly what each couple in this book needed. Because that makes them appreciate once again what they have, and they should be counting their blessings.
Going back to basic is also what brings all of them more together again. Not only the couples themselves, but also the friendships are being reinforced.
Even if the friends are living further away now, being at different stages of their lives, they know they can always rely on each other, for advice or for just finding someone that listens to you.

And that is the real beauty of this book, seeing how everyone gets together, celebrating the most wonderful time of the year. No matter that things didn’t go as planned, with good intentions and a positive mindset can turn the most dire situations into something great.

Of course, being an Olivia Spring book, this means also that I had a lot of laughs. The sink – accident, followed by the bed – incident, for sure had the me crying with laughter!
I truly enjoyed reading this epilogue, seeing how everything wrapped up perfectly for characters that are just too lovely.
