‘Summer at my Sister’s’ – written by Emily Harvale #Cover Reveal @emilyharvale @rararesources

This cover is just amazing and I honestly can’t wait to read the book!!!

Synopsis

Twin sisters. One scorching summer. A bucketful of secrets.

Diana’s life is perfect. Her twin sister, Josie’s – not so much. They aren’t identical twins. Perhaps the only things they have in common are agreeing their mother can be a nightmare – and their birthdays. This summer they’ll be thirty-five.

Diana has the perfect husband, two talented youngsters, and an adorable dog. She runs a successful business from home, a popular book club, and hosts sparkling parties for her wealthy husband. She always looks as if she’s stepped from the cover of a magazine. Her immaculate second home by the sea, for idyllic summers with her perfect family, was actually featured in one.

Josie has a messy, compact flat, dates, but not relationships, and she can’t even keep a houseplant alive. She moves from job to job, goes clubbing with her friends, and always looks as if she’s fallen through a hedge. She loves Diana, deeply, but each year she declines the invitation to spend the summer with her sister. Or any other family holiday. Because Josie has a secret.

But is Diana’s life so perfect? Or is she hiding something too? When secrets are revealed this summer, everything will change. Josie could finally have the life she’s always wanted … if she’s brave enough to take a chance. And it all begins with a phone call from their mother.

‘Up Close And Personal’ – written by Kathryn Freeman #BookReview @KathrynFreeman1 @rararesources

Before reading 1 word, I knew this would be worthy of 5 stars!

Synopsis

British actor Zac Edwards is the latest heartthrob to hit the red carpets. Hot, talented and rich, he sends women wild…all except one.

Close protection officer Kat Parker hasn’t got time to play celebrity games.  She has one job: to protect Zac from the stalker that seems to be dogging his every move.

Zac might get her hot under her very starched collar, but Kat’s a professional – and sleeping with Zac is no way part of her remit…

My review

Kat Parker is a bodyguard with a new assignment, she has to protect British actor Zac Edwards. As the latest heartthrob, he gets a lot of female attention. But when he appears to have a stalker, getting too close to him.

Zac normally uses his charms to get the woman he wants, but no matter what he does, Kat is determined to keep work and personal life separated.
Is Zac only looking for a fling as Kat suspects? And how long can they ignore the attraction?

Having read several book of Kathryn Freeman, I couldn’t wait with reading this one. I knew an amazing story was waiting for me to be devoured.
I don’t know how she does it, but every time it takes me by surprise how different each story is.

The dynamic between Zac and Kat is something you can already suspect, but there is more drama in this one, compared with her other stories.
The fact that there is a stalker, and there is absolutely no clue who it is, makes this more mysterious!

What I really loved is the strength of Kat. Being a female bodyguard is difficult for her. Not because she doesn’t like her job, but because of the prejudices. Of course everyone who think of a bodyguard, thinks about this muscled, strong man, and not a woman.
Yet Kat quickly shows her skills. She is never losing her eyes of her client, sees things nobody would pay attention to.

But she is also a caring person. While her sister is facing her addiction, Kat looks after her teenage niece. Which for the obvious reasons is not an easy task. She does whatever she can for her sister and her niece, even if it means being a mean aunt sometimes.

And Zac, well he totally blew me away. Yes, he is a famous actor and yes, he has the looks. But he is also just an amazing man!
He respects Kat her wishes, and does not push her. And even when he knows there is no chance at something more, he wants to make Kat happy.
He’s also not afraid to open up towards her, showing his real emotions. And he also has a sense of right and wrong. He knows he’s a burden and he makes clear he understands just that.
And when we get to know more about his past, well my admiration for him just grew even bigger.

This story gave me exactly what I wanted, and gave me even more! The fact that there is also the factor about a mysterious stalker and with totally no indication who the culprit was, was making me love this story even more. If possible I would even add a sixth star as a review if possible, but as the maximum is only five, I add it in my review instead!!! ******

‘The Old Girls’ Network’ – written by Judy Leigh #BookReview @judyleighwriter @rararesources

Age is just a number.

Synopsis

Is it ever too late to change…

After a health scare, 77 year-old spinster Barbara goes to convalesce in the sleepy Somerset village of Winsleigh Green with her sister Pauline, who is now a widow. The sisters are like chalk and cheese – Barbara, outspoken and aloof and Pauline, good natured and homely – so it’s not long before the tension starts to rise.

But when Pauline accidentally knocks down a vagrant who goes by the name of Bisto Mulligan, the ladies find themselves with another houseguest. As he recovers, it becomes apparent that Bisto is not who he first seemed, and as the sisters get to know the kind and courageous man he really is, it’s clear Bisto has the potential to change both of their lives.

As the spring turns to summer, and Winsleigh Green comes to life, can the three friends make the changes they need to, to embrace fresh starts, new loves, new lives and new horizons. Or do old habits die too hard?

Funny, joyful and with a spring in its step that reminds you to live every day like it’s your last. Judy Leigh has once again written the perfect feel-good novel for all fans of Dawn French, Dee MacDonald and Cathy Hopkins.

My review

Pauline and Barbara are sisters, but couldn’t be more different from each other. Pauline sees the good in everyone, and helps out wherever she can. She makes easily friends and is lived by the people in her village.

Barbara is more reserved and suspicious. She doens’t like gossip and doesn’t understand the charm of a small village.

So when Barbare goes to stay a while at Pauline’s it’s obvious that the tension will rise very quickly.

And when Pauline knocks down Bisto Mulligan, the ball starts rolling…

This is a very charming story!

From the very start I felt that Pauline was like a sweet old grandmother, wanting to take care of everything and every one. She is a real kind person, having no prejudice even if someone’s look would make you think the worse.

The way she treated Bisto, is an example for many of us. How easy would it be to just turn around and make sure you’d have nothing to do with him? But Pauline opens her home to him, showing how amazing she is.

Barbara was initially someone I didn’t really liked… She looks down on people of the village, doesn’t want anything to do with them. And even when people try to involve her, she stays out of the way.

But slowly, the village grows to her. She sees the beauty of a community, how everyone is looking after each other. And she starts to be part of the community too.

The real beauty and charm of the story is how three totally different people spend the summer together. They get to know each other better and start to appreciate each other. Barbara and Pauline are becoming real sisters, spending time together, and getting to know each other for real.

And Bisto is always around to help, and giving his advice. And Bisto was a real surprise, because behind the initial vision of a wanderer, he’s been through a lot.

Yet he manages to be right there with his knowledge at exact the right times.

This book surprised me, as it turned out to be more than expected. It shows a story about sisterhood, kindness, growth, and how people can change by just beng surrounded by the rught kind of people.

I had several laughs, as Bisto is a hidden gem, had to go through sweet moments and enjoyed spending time in this village that opened its heart for two strangers.

And I know it’s a cliché, but it’s never too late for love, and you’ll find it at the most unexpected places!

‘One Day In Summer’ – written by Shari Low #BookReview @sharilow @rararesources

How one day changes everything…

Synopsis

Coming soon from #1 bestseller Shari Low, an emotional roller-coaster, that keeps you guessing…

One day in summer, three lives are about to change forever.

After two decades of looking after others, this is the day that Agnetha McMaster is reclaiming her life. It’s her turn, her time but will she have the courage to start again?

Ten years ago, Mitchell McMaster divorced Agnetha and married her best friend, Celeste. Now he suspects his second wife is having an affair. This is the day he’ll discover if karma has come back to bite him.

Thanks to a DNA test, this is the day that Hope McTeer will finally meet her biological father. But will the reunion bring Hope the answers that she’s looking for?

Three people. Twenty-four hours. A lifetime of secrets to unravel.

My review

Agnetha McMaster is ready to be in charge of her own life again. Now that her daughters are old enough, she wants to open up her heart again for love.

It was hard to forget that her husband left her ten years ago for her best friend Celeste.

But when Mitchell suspects Celeste is cheating on him, he hopes he can find the proof of it, and is finding a listening ear with Agnetha.

Hope McTeer found her biological father thanks to a DNA test. But is her father as happy as her to have found a relative?

And will Hope find all the answers to the questions she had?

One day, that’s all it takes in this story. How often we have days where actual nothing happens and the day goes on into the next one?

But this book shows us another kind of day, a day where everything changes.

Immediately I liked Agnetha. She was happily married to Mitchell. But when the biggest betrayal of all happened, it would have been so easy for her to become an utterly b*tch and she could easily give Mitchell and Celeste a hard time.

Yet she shows her strength and her priorities. After all, there are two daughters to be raised, and it’s always better if the parents get along, instead of fighting all the time.

The story of Hope seems initially off… how does her story connect to the story of Agnetha? The further we get into the story, the clearer everything gets.

Thanks to flashbacks, we ge to know younger Agnetha and Celeste, and we learn how their friendship could end so abruptly.

Most characters are easy to like, despite mistakes they made in the past. But there is one person I just instant disliked. Without giving away anything, I thought that person was selfish, without an ounce of remorse and even when the opportunity came to do some good, the opportunity got lost thanks to the ugly character of that person.

This story brings together people who didn’t know each other’s existence, brought people back together, and gives a second chance.

It’s about the strong bond of family, about friendship, love and also about strength.

The title is One Day In Summer, and I think it’s also an indication about how long it takes to read this story, just one day…

Once you start reading, you’ll find it hard to put it away. You just have to know how these separates stories will come together and what the outcome will be for everyone.

‘Tangled In Ivy’ – written by Ashley Farley #BookReview @ashleywfarley @rararesources

How actions of the past reflect your present and future.

Synopsis

From the bestselling author of Sweet Tea Tuesdays comes a story of true love that spans decades.

Lillian Alexander’s father is dying of cancer. When he rambles on in a morphine-delirium, Lillian can’t ignore the feeling he’s trying to tell her something. At his funeral days later, she encounters ghosts from her past who stir long-suppressed memories from the day her mother died twenty-seven years ago. Why, if her mother’s death was an accident, does Lillian harbor guilt, as though she were somehow to blame?

When Lillian and her twin sister, Layla, learn the Stoney family fortune is gone, Lillian fights to save her ancestral home on Charleston’s prestigious East Battery. Desperate to resolve her money problems and get answers to her questions about the past, she tears her father’s study apart in search of clues. She discovers a thumb drive in a hollowed-out hardback copy of For Whom the Bell Tolls. The thumb drive, marked For Lillian in his handwriting, contains her father’s memoir. Secluded in the family’s cottage on Wadmalaw Island, she immerses herself in her father’s account of his stormy relationship with her mother. What she learns sets her on a journey of self-discovery.

Tangled in Ivy is a tale of tortured souls and southern family dysfunction

My review

Lillian Alexander took care of her father before losing him to cancer.
The last moments of his life, he was rambling on and Lillian can’t shake the feeling he was trying to tell her something about the past.
And when at the funeral she meets people of that same past, the ball starts rolling. She is having feelings of guilt of her mother’s death 27 years ago.
But why is she feeling guilty if it was an accident?
And will she manage to keep her home, even if her twin sister is adamant on selling it, causing even more rows?

When she finds a thumb drive with her father’s memoirs, she hopes to finds answers to all her questions. But reading about her father’s stormy relationship with her mother, will it give her all her answers?

This is a story that I couldn’t find it easy to put away. The intrigues just kept coming!

When we first meet Lillian, we see immediately how caring she is. It’s not easy taking care of a dying person, especially if it’s your own father.
But she is also determined… she does not believe her father was just rambling around, but was truly trying to tell her something.
So she starts her search, determined to find whatever it was her father hid.

The relationship with her sister is a strained one. And even if this seems very strange, being twins, it will all make sense the more we read into the story.
Layla was in my opinion a spoiled brat, wanting everything that will advantage her and not thinking about her sister at all. Also how she acts towards Lillian, made me dislike her.

This story goes back and forth between Lillian and her father Graham his memoirs.
And when we get to know young Graham, and his troubled childhood. And when he finally settles down I was truly happy for him.
His meeting with Ivy was not what I wanted for him… Ivy is used to get what she wants, and is also very close, even too close with her best friend. Whatever one of them does, the other one does immediately the same.
When Graham is gently pushed into marriage, I took this as a bad omen… He truly cares about Ivy, but are his feelings reciprocated?

Without giving more details about the actual story, this story is intriguing, settling and there are some twists I did not see coming.
The writing is very captivating, holding your attention until the very ending. All the characters are well developed, and even if I didn’t like all of them, it all makes sense now…

A story about how something that happened in the past, can keep influencing you and your future. But also about making things right and fighting for your rights and your happiness.

‘The Summer Of Taking Chances’ – written by Lynne Shelby #BookReview @LynneB1 @rararesources

To take a second chance or not to take a second chance?

Synopsis

Would you take the second chance you’ve always dreamed of?

It’s been ten years since Emma Stevens last laid eyes on Jake Murray. When he left the small seaside village of South Quay to chase the limelight, Emma’s dreams left with him.

Now Emma is content living a quiet and uneventful life in South Quay. It’s far from the life she imagined, but at least her job at the local hotel has helped heal her broken heart.

But when Jake returns home for the summer to escape the spotlight, Emma’s feelings quickly come flooding back. There’s clearly a connection between them, but Jake has damaged her heart once already – will she ever be able to give him a second chance?

My review

Emma Stevens is not living her dream, but is content with her life. Not many things happen, but she works at the local hotel and is part of an amateur production.

But when Jake Murray appears back in South Quay, Emma tries her best to avoid him. Her broken heart of ten years ago is not ready for Jake’s return…

The connection they had in the past is clearly still there, but with Jake trying to escape the spotlight for a moment and Emma’s fear of being left heartbroken again, is there really a possibilty for a second chance?

This story is one where your expectations get fulfilled and even fulfill you with expectations you didn’t know you had.

Emma is a delightful woman, full of passion for the amateur production. And her passion makes her do whatever she can to make a success of their latest production. But beside her passion for acting, she isn’t very adventurous. She lives a rather simple life, diving her time between work, acting and her friends.

When Jake appears, we know immediately that there is some history between them.

But the exact details are left for being discovered slowly during the book.

Jake is now a famous actor, and despite him being ‘back home’, I did not really like him immediately. He had this pompous air over him, looking down on amateur actors and making it clear that he was a real actor.

But being back home, finding back his roots, made him realize what truly matters in life. And made him also find his passion for acting again.

And when Emma and Jake are together, throwing quotes from Shakespeare all around the place, it’s clear that they would be perfect for another.

Yet of course it would be too easy to just fall in love and than ‘the end’…

The way Emma and Jake reconnect, is beautiful to read about. But there are of course things happening that are jeopardizing their new found connection.

A sweet story about two people having a history, the same passions, and even the same ambitions. Wonderful to read about real fears of opening up again, so recognizable yet different that keeps you interested.

It slowly drags you into the story, and before you know it, you’re hooked and quicker than you wanted, you reached the last pages…

‘The Book Of Us’ – written by Andrea Michael #BookReview @almichael_ @rararesources

One last chance for redemption.

Synopsis

The Book of Us is a story of the complexity of forgiveness and the friendships that change our lives forever. Perfect for fans of Jodi Picoult, Jojo Moyes and Diane Chamberlain.

We’ve got some important things to talk about. It’s time.

Cass and Loll used to be inseparable. They met at university and they made sense, like two halves of a whole. They had planned their lives around each other, writing down their dreams in The Big Book of Our Life – the things they wanted to achieve, the places they’d go after they finished university. But then one night changed everything.

Seven years later, Loll receives a letter from her old friend. The coming year will be the year they both turn 30, but Loll might be making it to 30 alone. Cass has cancer. Loll had believed she would have her whole life to come to terms with Cass’ betrayal, but time is running out. Cass’ final wish is to complete The Big Book of Our Life, but has enough time passed to heal old wounds?

My review

Cass and Loll were best friends. They did everything together, and even wrote The Big Book Of Our Life, writing everything they wanted to do together.
But one moment ruined their friendship forever.

Seven years later, Loll is facing a divorce when she received a letter from her former best friend. Cass has cancer and has not much time left.
Her last wish is to complete The Big Book, but can Loll put everything behind her and spend these lasts moments together?

This story caught my attention and never let it go.
It’s a story about friendship, forgiveness and love.

Initially I disliked Cass, because I thought I knew what happened. And I would have done the same thing as Loll, just break all contact. Because the level of betray was just too big…
So when Loll agreed to be part of the last adventure, I admired her, because it takes a lot of guts to spend time with someone that broke your heart in the worst way.

The first encounters are a bit forced, and they avoid the big elephant in the room. But slowly, as more time is spend together, the bond that initial existed, somehow finds his way back.
Spending their time together, finishing their bucket list is a way for both of them to reconnect and face their demons.
Because there is always more in a story then just one side, and when the truth comes out, it was even worse than I thought…
And it was not totally the fault of the person we thought…

Slowly the story evolves to a beautiful tale of adventures, rediscovering each other and why there was this initial bond.
And let’s not forget about Veronica… very mature for her age, but still a child… she brings a breath of fresh air through the whole story with her enthusiasm, and by just being her.

This story shows how life can take a certain direction, but also about how real friends somehow always find their way back together.
And that forgiveness can make the lives of those involved better, allowing each other to move on and give the friendship a well-deserved second chance.

‘The Little Teashop In Tokyo’ – written by Julie Caplin   #BookReview @JulieCaplin @rararesources

Falling in love on the other side of the world.

Synopsis

Grab your passport and escape to a land of dazzling skycrapers, steaming bowls of comforting noodles, and a page-turning love story that will make you swoon!

For travel blogger Fiona, Japan has always been top of her bucket list so when she wins an all-expenses paid trip, it looks like her dreams are coming true.

Until she arrives in vibrant, bustling Tokyo and comes face-to-face with the man who broke her heart ten years ago, gorgeous photographer Gabe.

Fiona can’t help but remember the heartache of their last meeting but amidst the temples and clouds of soft pink cherry blossoms, can Fiona and Gabe start to see life – and each other – differently?

My review

Fiona is a travel blogger, who wins a paid trip to Japan. Part of the win is the opportunity to spend time with a famous photographer.
When she arrives in Japan, she is surprised that the photographer has been changed, and she must spend time with Gabe.

Gabe is not a total stranger, as ten years ago he broke her heart. But now he is totally different than so many years ago. He has lost his passion for photography next to the fact his heart got broken and isn’t able to resist the woman who left him whenever it pleases her.

Almost forced to spend time together, they explore Tokyo and Gabe learns to see the place through new eyes and starts to feel like him old self again.
As their perspectives changes, will also their opinion concerning each other change?

I did not expect to fall in love with this story!
It seemed a story like so many, but suddenly I found myself submerged into it.

To be honest, it’s not that Tokyo is a place that really intrigues me. Yes, I know it’s a metropolis. But imaging myself walking in that busy city, it’s not my thing, even if there are things there that have my interest.

So walking there, together with Fiona and Gabe, feeling the same excitement as Fiona, it made me feel like I was with them.
So yes, now I’m a bit more into Tokyo than before 😃

Fiona and Gabe start immediately on the wrong foot. Gabe is nearly forced to show Fiona around and it’s very clear he does not want to do it at all.
And Fiona is still not over what happened ten years ago.
So a LOT of frustrations!!!

Slowly the frustrations are replaced by enthusiasm. After being put on his place by the host family Fiona is staying, Gabe opens his eyes to the world he is staying in, and slowly starts to feel happy again.
Fiona and Gabe together have this energy which was very sweet to read about. And when the past is put behind them, we get to know them for their true selves, not being ‘haunted’ by ex-girlfriends or mother with hypochondria.

And without putting any spoiler here, the thing Gabe does nearly the end… OH MY GOD!!!!! It made me swoon!!!!

A special mention also about the host family…
Ooh I had so much fun reading about the host family! Their attitude towards Fiona was kind, open, and caring, while Gabe was often being chastised by his behaviour.
I loved reading about this family who just opened their home and hearts to a total stranger. They are modern, but also very respectful concerning their ancient traditions.

A book that took me by surprise, showing me a side of Tokyo I didn’t know, with lovely, kind, amazing people. A story of putting the past behind you and daring to take a chance and stepping outside your comfort zone.
I loved every bit of it!

‘The Beauty of Broken Things’ – written by Victoria Connelly #BookReview @VictoriaDarcy @rararesources

Just be prepared…

Synopsis

United by tragedy, can two broken souls make each other whole?

After the tragic loss of his wife, Helen, Luke Hansard is desperate to keep her memory alive. In an effort to stay close to her, he reaches out to an online friend Helen often mentioned: a reclusive photographer with a curious interest in beautiful but broken objects. But first he must find her—and she doesn’t want to be found.

Orla Kendrick lives alone in the ruins of a remote Suffolk castle, hiding from the haunting past that has left her physically and emotionally scarred. In her fortress, she can keep a safe distance from prying eyes, surrounded by her broken treasures and insulated from the world outside.

When Luke tracks Orla down, he is determined to help her in the way Helen wanted to: by encouraging her out of her isolation and back into the world. But Orla has never seen her refuge as a prison and, when painful secrets and dangerous threats begin to resurface, Luke’s good deed is turned on its head.

As they work through their grief for Helen in very different ways, will these two broken souls be able to heal?

My review

Luke Hansard lost his wife in a terrible accident. Finding it hard to put it all behind him, he does whatever he can to keep feeling her close to him.
So he wants to find her online friend she often mentioned.
But the online does not want to be found…

Orla Kendrick lives alone in a castle she bought, hiding from her past. She doesn’t want anyone around and chases everyone away. Her only passion is collecting broken things and post them online.
When Luke suddenly appears on her doorstep, her initial thought is to send him also away. She changes her mind when she hears the devastating news of Helen…

Luke makes it his mission to help Orla and get her out of her house. Is Orla ready for stepping outside again? And is Luke just pushing his grieve away?

Just terrible, that were my thoughts…

Now, after given the author a heart attack for my statement, let me explain further…

This story was just heart – gripping, tear jerking, “oh my God it’s so sad I cannot read any further but I must”!

The first time I met Luke, I felt so sorry for him. He truly loves Helen and coping with losing her is just something he is not ready to do.
I can only imagine the pain he was going through…
And when he made it his purpose to find Orla, I was partly happy for him to have something again, but also a bit afraid that he would just find ‘an excuse’ for not grieving how it should.

And when Orla comes in the picture, that was even worse! Something terrible happened to her and because of that, she refuses to see anyone, with the exception of her mother once in a while.
when we finally get to know her story, oh my God, it was even worse than I thought!!! And I understood somehow why she closed herself off…

Before you think this story is too depressed, it isn’t…
Luke and Orla slowly start to become friends. And it’s one with many bumps… they both want to help each other, but are not facing their own demons.
But when you see the friendship grow, it’s just beautiful. You can feel the trust growing and how they accept their ‘brokenness’ without judgement.
And when one of them is going through some difficult moments, the other one is there for support.

And that is the message the author is giving, I think.  No matter how broken you are, you are still yourself. Like Orla collecting broken things, it’s not because something is broken, it isn’t beautiful anymore.
When something is broken, it doesn’t mean it has to be thrown away. Being broken but moving on is proof of your strength. And that makes you even more beautiful.
And even if you think you can manage on being on your own, you can always have friends to stick by your side and help processing everything happening to you.

This story broke my heart, made me cry, but also made me smile and showed me that friendships can be found in the strangest places. And that true friends never just give up on you and see you as you really are, no matter how your looks are. But they also can push you to do unthinkable things, but always keep your best interest in mind.

Really, take me on my word, this book is something you MUST read!

‘Summer In The City’ – written by Emma Jackson #BookReview @ESJackson1 @rararesources

How first impressions can be wrong…

Synopsis

Sometimes the one thing you’re looking for is right in front of you…

Stephen is on a very personal mission to find his father as per the wishes in their mother’s will. But he has no idea where to start, not that he’s going to tell anyone that… When Noelle, native New Yorker, daughter of a detective and desperate for a distraction from the novel she’s been struggling to write, offers to help, it feels like the perfect solution.

Except the last time she spoke to Stephen he thought they’d be seeing the New Year in together and instead she stood him up and sold him out! Stephen’s big enough and been around the block enough times to understand that all is fair in love and war, isn’t he? But when Stephen accepts her offer and they begin their search across the city, it soon becomes clear that the weather isn’t the only thing that’s heating up.

A heartwarming summer romance perfect for fans of Heidi Swain, Sarah Morgan and Holly Martin.

My review

Stephen moved temporarily from the U.K. to New York. Apparently only for his work, but he has also a personal mission. He wants to find his father who just left him and his mother so many years ago. Now that his mother passed away and left Stephen’s father some money, Stephen wants to find his father and understand why his mother left the money.

In New York, he meets Noelle. They have some history, but not a good one… last time they saw each other, he was under the impression they would spend the night together but she stood him up without any further explanation.

Noelle is a writer of detective stories but is having a writer’s block at the moment. She is struggling with how her latest should evolve and is nearly desperate.
She decides to help Stephen with his search and hopes to find some inspiration for her novel. Having some history, they settle some rules to keep it all “professional”. But can they both manager to keep it that way, as they get to know each other better and the attraction keeps on growing…

Sometimes all a girl needs, is a 100% feel – good romance. And this is the perfect example!

Noelle and Stephen are not complete strangers to each other, but not exactly friends either. So when they meet again in New York, you can say that the meeting was all but amicable.
But the further the story evolves, the more we understand each character. We get to learn why Stephen and Noelle just didn’t get along. But also the reasons why Stephen did what he did in the past.
Without giving any spoilers, there is just more to it than initially thought!

The length Stephen goes to find his father, to respect his mother’s wishes, shows what a caring man he really is. But also we get to know him as a scared and scarred man, being abandoned by his father. He will do everything to become everything except like his father, meaning he will keep as far away as possible for love.

Noelle is just wonderful. Despite her initial dislike, she realizes how important finding his father is for Stephen. And she does whatever she can to help him, even asking her father for help…

When they are together, the chemistry just sparks all around, and I was nearly yelling at them “JUST KISS EACH OTHER!!!”.
So sometimes I got frustrated because they were so stubborn, but there were also the sweetest moments, like in the Ferris wheel.
And let’s give also a moment for Noelle’s family… they are a big bunch, and maybe sometimes relying too much on Noelle. And also always knowing better and underestimating the work writing a book takes. But at the right times, they are all there for each other, helping out like a real family should!

I loved reading this book, imaging walking next to Noelle and Stephen in New York, and getting to know 2 wonderful people, and having been reminded that there is always more than meets the eye and we should not stick to our first impressions!
