Synopsis

Penny Slipper runs a sewing shop in the beautiful market town of Framlingham and she’s got her wild and creative cousin, Izzy, to help with the latest dressmaking project.

A classic car weekend is coming to town and stylish FlissStarling wants an outfit that will match her husband’s elegant vintage car.

When one of Fliss’s house guests is murdered by a masked intruder, Penny and Izzy have a deadly mystery to solve (as well as a dress to make!). With the aid of a cheeky little corgi dog and handyman Aubrey, they begin to search out the clues to this motor-related murder.

But fingers are soon pointing at Penny and Izzy when the intruder’s mask appears to have come from their own shop! And rival shop owner, Carmella, would be delighted to see them take the blame.

Can Penny and Izzy stitch the pieces of this puzzle together and find the guilty culprit?

My review

Penny and Izzy are working more and more together to turn the sewing shop into a success. With Penny handling the business maters and Izzy the creative bits, they both put their weight in their own ways.
And with Izzy’s help, Penny is even learning more about sewing.
With a classic car weekend coming up, Fliss Starling wats an outfit to match her husband’s vintage car, and needs the help of the two cousins to deliver.
But when one of Fliss’s house guests is murdered, Penny and Izzy are once again determined to solve this next mystery.
Yet things may not seem as easy, as the culprit has been seen wearing a mask that came from the sewing shop!
Will the cousins be able to link all the dots and find out the truth? And also, what will they do with the corgi that since the murder is staying at their place?

Now that I know the cousins better, thanks to the first part of this series, it was really great to return to the sewing shop and discovering what mystery they would unravel next!
I have to admit, the speed of murders in this little town could be a bit disturbing, but just like in every cozy mystery, we will cover this matter up with the cloak of love. 

I found it truly sweet to see how Penny and Izzy are getting closer while running the sewing shop. If you would look purely at their characters, they couldn’t be more different, but even in matters of friendships, opposites attract.
It’s thanks to their differences that first of all, they are coming up with great ideas for the shop, but also they find the answer to the mystery – question.
I for sure loved seeing these two characters together! 

But of course there has to be mystery, and it has to somehow involve the duo. I can honestly say that vintage cars aren’t my thing, so I would never ask for a custom – made outfit matching a car. Yet of course, weirder things happen in this series, so why not? 

The murder itself is truly a mysterious one, and it kept me guessing all the way, from start till finish. But not only the murder is a mystery, there are several issues that keep on popping out through the story, adding several mysterious layers, however it never turned truly over – complicated, keeping it always a light tone. 

Of course there is a new entry in the lives f Penny and Izzy, and he for sure stole my heart, despite the mischief he is up to. Obviously I am talking about Monty, the Corgi!
He for sure is a nice addition in the sewing shop, and he is absolutely an asset to this series! 

I loved reading this second chapter, and cannot wait who will be the next victim (okay, sounds rather macabre from my side!), but I also cannot wait to see which creations the cousins will come up with, and even on the love – side, what will happen next! This book gives you exactly what you would expect from this genre, a cozy mystery, a quick read yet never losing the ability to keep you hooked!
