Every bit of Christmas magic!
Synopsis
When life goes downhill… head to the snow-capped Alps for roaring fires, apres-ski and festive romance.
Lily Jackson loves Christmas. She also loves her childhood friend Jamie, but when her plan to kick-start their romance goes drastically wrong and her job gets her down, Lily decides it’s time to make changes. A job opens up in snowy Chamonix and egged on by her best friend Imogen, Lily decides to go for it.
As Lily settles in with the eccentric Devereux family at their gorgeous boutique ski hotel, she starts to confront her past. But when she meets handsome ski instructor Luc, who hates Christmas, Lily might have taken on more than she can handle.
Can Lily make a new life – with or without skis? And can she get Luc to see how truly romantic Christmas can be?
A heart-warming, feel-good romantic comedy, perfect for fans of Holly Martin, Carole Matthews and Tilly Tennant.
My review
Lily is not in a happy place at the moment. She doesn’t like her job anymore, and she finds herself in love with her childhood friend Jamie.
To add some more desperation, when she finally finds the guts to come clean about her feelings, she gets the worst possible response!
And that’s the straw that breaks the camel’s back… wanting to escape from everything, she accepts a job in Chamonix, to work in a hotel with her best friend Imogen. Because there is no better way to get over a heartbreak by spending it far far away!
Lily is the typical girl next door, sweet and caring, and doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. Even if someone else’s happiness it at cost of her own, she won’t give in to vindictive feelings.
During her stay in Chamonix, she get to know Luc. He hates Christmas for reasons later in the book will be clear, but even then Lily wants to show him why Christmas is a beautiful period. This shows again how much she is concerned about other people.
She is also ready to face her fear of heights, together with Luc. And here we get to learn Luc on a better level. Despite his background as lover boy, we soon realize he is amazing at putting people at ease, and pushing them to get out their comfort zone. But he doesn’t do this on a bullying way, but so sweet and patient, that even I, hater of skiing and heights myself, would dare to do it!
This Christmas story just has everything you expect from the perfect Christmas story and even more! The characters grow into the story, slowly they open up to each other. And you’ll find yourself falling in love with Chamonix and all the people present there.
And don’t worry, there are many opportunities to have a good laugh too!
