My review

Agnetha McMaster is ready to be in charge of her own life again. Now that her daughters are old enough, she wants to open up her heart again for love.

It was hard to forget that her husband left her ten years ago for her best friend Celeste.

But when Mitchell suspects Celeste is cheating on him, he hopes he can find the proof of it, and is finding a listening ear with Agnetha.

Hope McTeer found her biological father thanks to a DNA test. But is her father as happy as her to have found a relative?

And will Hope find all the answers to the questions she had?

One day, that’s all it takes in this story. How often we have days where actual nothing happens and the day goes on into the next one?

But this book shows us another kind of day, a day where everything changes.

Immediately I liked Agnetha. She was happily married to Mitchell. But when the biggest betrayal of all happened, it would have been so easy for her to become an utterly b*tch and she could easily give Mitchell and Celeste a hard time.

Yet she shows her strength and her priorities. After all, there are two daughters to be raised, and it’s always better if the parents get along, instead of fighting all the time.

The story of Hope seems initially off… how does her story connect to the story of Agnetha? The further we get into the story, the clearer everything gets.

Thanks to flashbacks, we ge to know younger Agnetha and Celeste, and we learn how their friendship could end so abruptly.

Most characters are easy to like, despite mistakes they made in the past. But there is one person I just instant disliked. Without giving away anything, I thought that person was selfish, without an ounce of remorse and even when the opportunity came to do some good, the opportunity got lost thanks to the ugly character of that person.

This story brings together people who didn’t know each other’s existence, brought people back together, and gives a second chance.

It’s about the strong bond of family, about friendship, love and also about strength.

The title is One Day In Summer, and I think it’s also an indication about how long it takes to read this story, just one day…

Once you start reading, you’ll find it hard to put it away. You just have to know how these separates stories will come together and what the outcome will be for everyone.
