As I’ve read another book by this author and I loved it, I was looking forward to read this one also.
The summary was very promising even though I’m not really into the archealogical research and the whole ‘we are digging in the hope to find something prehistorical’.
Is it because I had rather high expectations that I got disappointed?
Normally when I read a book, I’m immediately submerged in it. Anything could happen and I wouldn’t notice it.
But with this book, I got easily distracted, even occasion was a good reason to take a break from reading further.
And I just didn’t get a connection with all the characters.
Of course I had sympathy for Grace, because she lost the Great Love of her life. But my feeling was that Duncan could have been any random guy. The love story between both of them didn’t get me all warm inside.
Only because of my own stubornness I kept reading. And good thing that I didn’t quit…
Because suddenly past halfway the book, I found myself drawn into the story and couldn’t stop reading.
Was it because there was an actual link between the story of Grace and Hen? Was this missing link the way to solve all the mysteries in the book?
The story itself was written well but it’s just a pity that I couldn’t relate to any of it.
But that doesn’t mean that from now on I will avoid any other book from this author. I believe that other stories will have a postive effect on me and that this one was just the exception to the rule!
