My review
Ellie has found the love of her life at work. Logan is just it for. Too bad she is just too shy to actually start talking to him!
Nearly desperate, she writes a mail to an augony aunt, hoping to receive the advice that will make Logan notice her and become a couple for real, and have their happily ever after.
Enter augony aunt Fliss. She is happily married for several years, and is the envy of her friennds.
But when she starts helping Ellie, she soon realises that her marriage isn’t that perfect…
Suddenly the roles are swapped and Fliss needs advice to save her own marriage!
I had so much fun reading this story!
There are two stories to follow.
First we have Ellie and her undying love for Logan.
Initially I thought there was already something going between the two of them. But quickly realisation dawned that Logan is totally not aware of what Ellie feels for him. Even worse, he even doesn’t know Ellie!
So my instant reaction was: how do you know if it’s true love if you never spoke to the man!
The struggles Ellie has to follow Fliss her advice, is just hilarious. The most simple chitchat, even a simple ‘hello’ is going so wrong, I just had to laugh at it.
And the interferences of Laura, Ellie’s friend, just add an extra layer of hilarity!
The story of Fliss may seem a sadder one, as she feels her marriage is falling apart. She even suspects her husband is having an affair. But here are also moments that made me laugh, especially when Fliss starting to do some investigation herself.
But behind all the laughter, there are serious topics… what do you do when you are too shy to take a leap of chance and just go after the man you love? And even if Ellie seems a bit naive, deep down she is a good girl. She does her utterly best and does not want to hurt anyone’s feelings.
When she is on her own, without meddling Laura, she even succeeds more in her plans compared to the well schemed plans…
And Fliss, her situation is honestly a sad one… what when your marriage is falling apart and you cannot seem to get it back on track…
And when the truth comes out, that there is something in the past that has been unspoken, it made me even sadder.
It shows that behind the easygoing surface, there is more to someone than initially thought. But also that there are things fighting for. And that even if it seems like a hopeless situation, you should fight for your loved ones.
But no worries, you’ll laugh with this story but the message will get through the laughters. And the end was just the perfect icing on the cake!
